Reliable electricity is something many of us rarely think about. We switch on a light, charge a phone, boil a kettle, open a laptop, or work into the evening without much thought. But for many families, schools and communities in Kenya, power is not guaranteed. For some, it is unreliable. For others, it is completely out of reach.

Power to the Powerless was born from a simple conviction: a small amount of reliable electricity can make a life-changing difference. A solar box can mean a child studying after dark, a family charging a phone safely, a teacher preparing lessons, or a school continuing its work without being held back by power cuts. It is not just about electricity. It is about dignity, opportunity, safety and hope.

In 2025, through the electric motorbike challenge, more than 20 solar boxes were given away, and reliable power was restored to a school. The journey showed both the scale of the need and the extraordinary impact that practical generosity can have. Since then, the requests have continued: families asking for boxes, schools asking for help, and organisations looking for a way to bring light where there is none.

The dream now is to keep going. The hope is to build more solar boxes, support more homes and schools, and one day establish a small local workshop where people can be employed to make the boxes that will be given away. It is a big dream, but every box built, every donation given, and every person who shares the story helps move it forward.
